schema

The schema definition as bytes, which the writer puts in the log.

It starts with the tag, followed by any metadata the schema needs. The default is the tag alone. A schema with structure overrides it to add field definitions, element types and so on.

Format:

[4 bytes: tag] [variable: schema-specific metadata]
